ThThe first week of July marked my third year on staff with BC Bike Race. Once again held on beautiful Vancouver Island, riders from around the world spent seven days exploring some of the most stunning singletrack the region has to offer.

For me, BCBR is one of the busiest weeks of the year. It’s seven straight days of long hours on the trails photographing riders, late nights editing, and just enough sleep to keep going. What makes it worthwhile is the team: the BCBR media crew is like family, and together we power through the madness. After spending much of the year working solo, it’s a real treat to collaborate with such a talented group.

Below are a few images from the week. My role is to try and capture each rider at least a couple of times per day, which means finding the right spot on the trail, waiting, and then firing away as hundreds of riders pass through. The result isn’t a huge variety of shots, but the goal is simple: give every rider at least one or two memorable images from each stage to look back on.
