In January I finally made it to a country I’d yet to visit: Iceland. I joined as a driver for one of OFFBEAT Photography’s tours, which honestly felt like the perfect way to experience the fire and ice of this place for the first time.

There’s something about Iceland that just hits different. Maybe it’s the way the light never really settles, or how you can go from standing on black sand beaches to stepping inside a glowing blue ice cave in the span of a day. It’s wild and moody and completely unpredictable in the best way. We based ourselves near Jökulsárlón and just let the landscape do what it does best…show off.

From Diamond Beach and Vík to Vestrahorn and Reynisfjara, plus editing sessions at the hotel while the wind rattled the windows, it felt like we experienced every version of Iceland. We chased aurora night after night, photographed waterfalls half frozen in place, explored ice caves at Heinabergs glacier, ate gas station hot dogs, and eventually thawed out in the Blue Lagoon at the end of it all. It was creative, chaotic, inspiring, and honestly just really fun. I’m proud of the images everyone created, and I’m pretty sure Iceland left its mark on all of us.

Below are some of my photos from ten days spent exploring.
